Animals need ice treats too
You may have already seen this story about the animals in the Zürich Zoo being fed frozen meat and fruit "alternative ice cream" to cool them down. It seems that this isn't so uncommon. 20 Minuten, a free paper that's distributed in Zürich and other Swiss cities, has a great slide show on their web site of animals cooling down, using ice treats and other ways.

(This isn't about human food but I just couldn't pass it up. Besides...the ice treats look kind of good!)

Animals need ice treats too
Personally, I love the picture of the miniature piglets the most - our local newspaper ran that image around a week ago, and I was like all "awww!" when I saw it.
On a more serious note, though, the heat wave is really crazy. I think it's about time some people started taking global warming more seriously and doing something about it, instead of just claiming otherwise when it's pretty clear it's otherwise.
